Which Type?

January 8th, 2009 by The BookaSkip United Kingdom Skip Hire Team

One question we are asked regularly is …. “Which type of skip is best for food waste?”

Unfortunately food waste is not accepted in skips, a great way to rid yourself of it is by composting. If you want to find out more about how to compost there are many good websites on the internet that will give you tips and ideas to try.

Did you know that approximately 1/3 of the food we buy is being thrown away?!! Most of it could be eaten too! An average family spends approximately £420 a year on wasted food, so this is a pretty big issue.

All this waste has environmental implications too, if we stop wasting all this food, the CO2 impact would be the same as having 5 less cars on the road.

A great website to visit to find out more is http://www.lovefoodhatewaste.com. The “Love Food, Hate Waste” campaign aims to raise awareness of the need to reduce the amount of food that we throw away, and how doing this will benefit us as a whole.
