December 7th, 2008 by The BookaSkip United Kingdom Skip Hire Team

If you are looking for Skip Hire in Croydon www.bookaskip.co.uk is ready to help!

Currently we have suppliers servicing Caterham, Coulsdon, Kenley, Mitcham, Purley, South Croydon, Thornton Heath, Warlingham and Whyteleafe areas.

Skip sizes that are generally available include: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 cubic yard.

Remember that the cheapest skips book out first, so get in quick!

Simply visit www.bookskip.co.uk or www.surreyskips.co.uk and enter your postcode. Just follow the prompts and the website will present you with the best price for a skip that matches your requirements.

If you have electrical waste to dispose of, unfortunately this is unable to be placed in a skip and this waste will need to be disposed of at a waste and recycling centre.  There are three centers in Croydon:

  • Factory Lane, West Croydon (waste and recycling)
  • Fisher’s Farm, New Addington (waste and recycling)
  • Purley Oaks, South Croydon (recycling only)

These centers will accept the disposal of fridges and freezers, and are open on all bank holidays except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. You may need to bring proof of your address if you do not have a waste permit, and if you are from outside the borough there may be a small charge.

Birmingham…Did You Know?

October 30th, 2008 by The BookaSkip United Kingdom Skip Hire Team

Birmingham is a city and metropolitan borough in the West Midlands county of England. The City of Birmingham district has a population of 1,000,000+ making it the second largest city in the UK. It is the largest of England’s core cities, and is often considered to be the second city of the United Kingdom.

The city has played an important part in the history of sport. It was the first city to be named National City of Sport by the Sports Council. It is home to two of the country’s oldest professional football teams:, Aston Villa (1874) and Birmingham City (1875).

Birmingham city’s reputation was forged as a powerhouse of the Industrial Revolution in England, a fact which led to Birmingham being known as “the workshop of the world”.

In November 2006 the City Council approved a new Waste Management Strategy to run from 2006 – 2026. This will enable the City Council to meet the Government’s current national recycling and composting target of 30% by 2010 and 33% by 2015.

Amongst the series of targets in the new strategy the City Council is committed to:

  • a target of doubling the 2005/06 (17%) recycling and composting performance within 5 years
  • a target to reach 40% recycling and composting rate by 2026

You may require a skip bin for the removal of landscaping or home improvement debris, rather than recycling and composting. If you are based in Birmingham, take a look at the skip hire prices that are currently available at www.bookaskip.co.uk.
