Get creative with rubbish

February 10th, 2011 by The BookaSkip United Kingdom Skip Hire Team

Spain has just released images of their latest hotel…….made entirely of recycled rubbish!

German sculptor H.A. Shult used 12 tons of rubbish to construct this unusual hotel which boasts 5 double rooms! The idea is to bring awareness to environmental problems that plague European beaches.

If your not feeling quite as creative as Shult but you do have a lot of rubbish to dispose of then have a look at the bookaskip website. We have a huge variety of sizes available nationwide!

Can I Place A Skip Bin on Public Property?

November 30th, 2010 by The BookaSkip United Kingdom Skip Hire Team

As every area has differing rules, the first thing you should do is contact your local council to find out the expectaions for placing a skip bin on the Public Property in your area.

What is Public Property? Areas that are dedicated to the use of the public such as: Lane way, Road, street , Park grass verge, side walk, parking lot etc - Any property owned by the government or jointly owned by a community.

The Council will be able to advise you whether you can place the skip bin on the area you are planning on using, and if there is a permit necessary.

A Permit is a legal document giving official permission to do something, the act of giving a formal (usually written) authorization, a document rendering something allowed or legal.

Sometimes it takes a few days to have a permit processed and often there is a charge for this, so find out in advance so it doesn’t hinder you plans.

Our advice is to ensure you have the go ahead prior to booking your skip bin…. More questions?…. LIVE CHAT our staff now!

London Skip Hire Facts:

- London exports 70% of its municipal waste out of the capital for treatment or disposal. Source: Environment Agency.

- London has historically relied on cheap landfill as the final point of disposal for its waste. Large volumes of material are exported, mainly by road to the Home Counties and beyond. London needs to buy its landfill habit as space is running out. Most landfill sites will be full in a few years, not centuries.

- The restrictions on landfill space, coupled with the level of consumption, are driving the demand for better and more appropriate methods of waste management.

- Recycling is the number one green activity and UK householders currently produce 35 million tons of waste every year, yet 26 million tones goes direct to landfill. Source: waste to landfill figures from www.wrap.org.uk
